Easy Peasy Breezy Slightly Patriotic Pillowcase Dress

**Thank you for all the kind comments!  I have received several inquiries through Comments and Emails regarding a pattern or instructions.  I hope to be back soon with some helpful hints. **

My mind and plate are both a little crowded right now, and delving into a complicated sewing project did
not seem the prudent choice.  But stitching is my therapy, so easy peasy is the project!
If you can look past the stripe-y, moire-y effect of the poor photography, there is a simple little pillowcase dress for a special little miss.
I wanted to do something that she could wear for any upcoming Independence Day events, but one that would not still scream "July 4th" in August or September!

I selected Navy Stripe Candy Cord, a pima cotton fabric with a slightly raised ridge along the stripes.  The cotton fabric will breathe in our hot and humid summer temperatures.
I prefer to use elastic in the top casing, instead of running a drawstring through.  The little armholes are bound with pima cotton red gingham, and extends to form shoulder top bows!
At the hem, two tucks and some peek-a-boo red rick rack add a little more interest.

So there it is:
Easy Peasy Breezy Slightly Patriotric Pillowcase Dress!

I am participating in Sew and Tell Friday.
Hop on over to view other projects completed this week!

It might be easy peasy but it is certainly a whole lot of cute. The only things missing are the sparklers and empty mayo jar for fireflies.

Love it !!!
I have made many pillowcase dresses, but never thought of using the bias binding extended to make the ties. Thanks for the hint. The elastic in the casing does make it a lot more comfortable for the little ones to wear.
I also made some red, white and blue dresses for my shop.
Now I am working on starting to stock up for Fall and Christmas Holiday. I have lots of ideas for Christmas, but can't seem to get my brain motivated to dream up something cute for Fall.
Drop by my blog if you have time, I just posted a couple of pictures of Fall Bishop dresses I just finished.
Thank you for all you inspration.
Best wishes, Carol

Precious dress, Jan! :) Now tell me if there is a pattern for this dress....or did you just invent it? I know someone who would like a size one if I could secure some instructions. :)

Oh so cute! I have a "thing" for navy and white and know this would be darling all summer long. I think I will copy it for my girlie. So darling and fresh. Beautiful.

Love the bias trim and using elastic instead of just the ribbon. I'll have to try that for our baby grandgirl.

This is adorable! I love the stripes, the tucks at the bottom, and the ricrac. Usually I'm not drawn to pillowcase dresses, but this one I love.

Jan, I could have SWORN I comment on this darling little pillowcase dress before but I don't see mine. :?
It is just the perfect combination of fabrics & trim & special little touches, like the tucks & rick-rack at the hem.
I've done machine embroidery along a separate piece of WIDE fabric & then folded it wrong sides together & used it for a hem. I wish I'd seen your tucks when I worked on this one!
